## Biography

Fabricio Andrey Batista Junior, better known as Fabrício “Hokage” Andrey, was born on March 5, 2000, in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. He grew up in a martial-arts household: his father taught capoeira, and Andrey first learned the family’s kicking art before finding Brazilian jiu-jitsu at age 13 through Projeto Nandinho, the Manaus social project led by Melqui Galvão. The “Hokage” nickname came from his love of Naruto; he wore the reference on his gi until teammates and fans made it part of his competitive identity.

Andrey was training like a professional by green belt. As a blue belt, he moved to São Paulo to improve his chances of competing at the IBJJF World Championship in California, landing with the Alliance Matriz and Dream Art Project structures connected to Galvão’s athlete pipeline. He remained tied to Galvão while developing daily under Alliance leaders Michael Langhi and Fábio Gurgel, who promoted him through purple and brown belt. After winning major colored-belt titles at Worlds, Pans, Europeans, and Brasileiros, Andrey returned to Manaus in August 2020 so Galvão could award his black belt.

His black-belt breakout arrived quickly. In 2021 Andrey won the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals at featherweight, then captured the IBJJF World Championship in Anaheim in his first black-belt Worlds campaign. The final became an instant highlight: he submitted former world champion Shane Jamil Hill-Taylor with a triangle choke, adding a signature finish to a division run that also included wins over Richar Nogueira and Alex Sodré. He followed with major AJP titles, 2022 Brasileiros gold, 2023 IBJJF European Open gold, 2023 Worlds bronze, and Pan silver medals in 2023 and 2024.

No-gi expanded Andrey’s profile beyond the IBJJF gi circuit. He qualified for ADCC 2022 at −66 kg through the second Brazilian Trials, beat Cole Abate in the opening round at the World Championship, and returned to ADCC in 2024 after winning the São Paulo / Brazilian Trials with a submission-heavy campaign. On the professional circuit he has appeared for WNO, Polaris, AIGA, BJJ Stars, CJI, and ONE Championship.
